How to Donate

Yes! I will help people experiencing homeless. I agree that everyone deserves a helping hand.

If you would like to mail a check, please make it out to Bangor Area Homeless Shelter and send it to 263 Main St. Bangor, ME 04401.

What do people coming to our shelter need most?

While we appreciate the thoughtfulness of every donation, somethings are not helpful.

Please don’t donate falling apart shoes, women’s heels, used underwear, ripped clothes, stained clothes, smelly clothes, or out of style clothes from decades ago.  We are an adult only shelter, please don’t donate children’s clothes. Please don’t donate expired food.

Donating made easy, Walmart and Amazon ship directly to our building.

Yes! I will leave a lasting legacy. Consider leaving a gift to the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter during your estate planning.  Did you also know you can make a Required Minimum Donation from your IRA retirement account tax-free? The qualified charitable distribution rule allows traditional IRA owners to deduct their RMDs on their tax returns if they give the money to a charity. The rule can effectively reduce your income taxes by lowering your adjusted gross income. Check with your tax adviser to see if this could work for you.
